Pottery is a decorative or useful ware made of baked clay. Pottery includes valuable works of art, inexpensive dinnerware, vases, and other simple household items, all made by professional potters. The word pottery also refers to the factory that makes pottery. Pottery ware is part of a larger product group called ceramics that encompasses bricks, cement, sewer pipes, and other industrial products. Four steps are needed to make a pottery product: preparing the clay mixture, shaping the clay, decorating and glazing the item, and firing (baking). The firing temperature gives pottery its finished appearance and its strength.

Pottery  remind us to a period of prehistory, where at that time all life supplies indigenous to from clay like ripe tool, bathroom, even to help a mother for bearing. At that time pottery was very simple not only in allotment but also in design, cause of it was adapt to their requirement. And nowdays pottery still exist as a souvenir and household property to decorate interior and exterior for house building, office and also for hotel, which is sometime in desire of design accordance to the require.

Is not difficult to find the central of pottery, in Lombok there are some countryside that suited for pottery production like Banyumelek Village in West Lombok, Penujak Village in Central Lombok and Masbagik Village in East Lombok. Lombok pottery was loved by tourist and designer from another countries and has penetrated to international market around 15 countries become their target export like America, Netherland, New Zealand, India, Australia, Italy and other countries in Asia, because of Lombok pottery has been created with combustion method and jolly good design. And no wonder if one of potteryy product should be an art article in our house.
